Walk May 2010
The
14th LIONS Annual Sponsored Walk
The Teulada/Moraira Lions Club 14th Annual
Sponsored Walk in Moraira took place on Sunday 30th May. The aim of
the walk was to raise money which could then be donated towards local families
and children in need. The current economic crisis has hit many local families
very hard and the Teulada/Moraira Lions have, with your valuable and kind
support, been able to help many families during the past year.
The walk started near the castle at the
seafront in Moraira, and followed a gentle 6.5km route around the local area.
It then returned to the centre of the village before finishing back at the
castle. The local police escorted the walkers around the route as did a Red
Cross ambulance in case of injuries. It was a hot day but the walk was
well attended with many Lions, friends and families taking part. The
walk was for everyone, for all ages and fitness levels and it certainly isn't a
race with everyone going at their own pace.
APASA took part in the walk with 50% of there walk
proceeds going to there own charity. The Alcalde, Antoni Bertomeu and
Councillor Sylvia Tatnell were on the walk and completed the full 6.5 kms
course.
Over 2,300 euros was donated from sponsorship and
collections on route and this will all go to local families. A special mention
must go to 6 year old Jack Crew who not only completed the walk but raised 304
euros in sponsorship. Two photographs show the walk underway with the lead car
and the Lions mascot. The other photograph is Jack Crew with the Lions banner.
