Sian Simon

Sian began consulting in 1997 and founded Coventree Consulting meet the needs of an expanding client base. Sian has almost 20 years of consulting and management experience, working both in the US and internationally. She provides practical marketing support to high-tech/ telecommunications companies. She specializes in delivering high-quality services in the areas of:

Prior to consulting, Sian held a number of marketing management positions for blue chip communications companies such as Concert Communications, Cable & Wireless US/ Mercury Communications UK (both part of the Cable & Wireless group), STC (a subsidiary of Northern Telecom) and British Telecom.


Sian holds an Honors Degree in English from Royal Holloway & Bedford College, University of London, UK and a Diploma in Communications Studies from the College of Distributive Trades in London, UK.


As a Marketing Consultant, Sian has completed a variety of projects including:

 

Creation of a complete marketing plan for a small IT services company, to support expansion plans and acquisition of new customers. She also provided support for the development of new web site, marketing and proposal materials, public relations program and vertical market collateral.
Development and launch of a series of promotions designed to stimulate new business and retain existing customers for a major global satellite operator. Subsequently retained by the same company to develop new product pricing and product descriptions, plus develop comprehensive marketing communications materials and sales incentives.
Development of marketing databases and tracking / analysis systems using MS Access for a web-based recruitment service.
Specification, development and launch of a portfolio of conference calling services, including traditional audio-conferencing, "Reservationless" audio-conferencing, web-based data conferencing service, and conference bridge rental, including sales and customer collateral, training materials and promotions.
Specification, and launch of International Toll Free Service and Universal International Freephone Service.
Requirements definition for a Unified Messaging platform. Analyzed competitor positioning, developed product specifications, and pricing strategies.
Development of product specifications, product positioning, and pricing strategies for a Pan-European mobile service. For the same company, developed a business cases for the launch and deployment of global VSAT and Unified Messaging services.
Managing the implementation of a major new US distribution channel for a global communications company.
Specifying service measurements/guarantees for a new global product that spanned a number of local networks.
Building the business case for a multi-million dollar investment in the US market. Completed market, customer, channel research, defined product requirements for VPN, Call Center, Calling card, and web based billing and customer service. Developed the strategic financial analysis to support the business case, which was approved by the client.
International VPN product positioning and sales strategy for a major Asian carrier.
